Prevention Action Alliance, with the support of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, is offering a funding opportunity for those interested in utilizing the SMART Bet program in their community.
Five (5) grantees will be awarded $1,000 to implement the SMART Bet program in their community and share their data with Prevention Action Alliance. This grant will run through June 25, 2018.
What is SMART Bet?
SMART Bet is a prevention based curriculum designed to help young adults (18-25) gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make healthy choices about whether, when, and how much to gamble. The program is designed to allow participants to explore the role of gambling in our society and in their lives. With this program, participants will learn about the risks and benefits of gambling, as well as examine their own attitudes, feelings and opinions around the decision to gamble or not to gamble.
The in-person program can be completed in 4-10 hours, depending upon the amount of time spent discussing each activity and time allotted to complete activities. The program materials can be stand-alone or integrated into other training curriculums, lessons, or activities.
Who Should Apply?
Eligible applicants include those working in problem gambling prevention or who wish to engage their community in problem gambling prevention. Applicants must utilize the evaluation tools provided and return collected data to Prevention Action Alliance upon completion.
Applications are due February 28!
